Howard, Santucci Control the Glass in Road Battle
Camia Howard (19 points, 15 rebounds) and Karis Santucci (10 points, 11 rebounds) combined for 30 points and 26 boards, but Spokane fell 62-54 after a late Blue Mountain rally.
Spokane held a narrow halftime lead but was unable to slow Blue Mountain's fourth-quarter push, falling 62-54 in conference play Wednesday night at BMCC.
The Sasquatch led 33-29 at the break after holding Blue Mountain to just 12 points in the second quarter. Spokane's defense kept the Timberwolves in check early, and strong work on the glass helped the Sasquatch control tempo through the first half.
Blue Mountain responded after the break, cutting into the deficit in the third quarter before erupting for 23 points in the fourth to secure the win.
Camia Howard delivered a dominant inside performance for Spokane, finishing with 19 points and 15 rebounds in 40 minutes of action. Howard went 9-of-23 from the field and added two steals while anchoring the Sasquatch on both ends.
Karis Santucci added a double-double of her own with 10 points and 11 rebounds, including seven offensive boards that created second-chance opportunities. Kyla Conley contributed eight points and six rebounds, while Shalene Ervin provided a spark off the bench with nine points, knocking down three three-pointers.
Spokane struggled to find consistent offense, shooting 30.7% from the field and 23.1% from beyond the arc (6-of-26). The Sasquatch also went just 2-of-5 from the free-throw line. Blue Mountain capitalized at the stripe, converting 13-of-22 attempts, which proved pivotal in the final margin.
Despite outrebounding Blue Mountain 42-32 and forcing 13 turnovers, Spokane was unable to overcome the Timberwolves' efficient 40% shooting performance and late scoring surge.
