Bio
Dan Philp took over as head coach of the Sasquatch women’s soccer program in 2022, continuing the team’s tradition of excellence in the NWAC. In his first season, he led Spokane to the 2022 NWAC Championship and earned NWAC Coach of the Year honors. Under his guidance, the team has continued to excel, finishing NWAC runners-up in 2023 and third place in 2024, while also winning the 2023 NWAC East Region title. Philp has been named East Region Coach of the Year in both 2023 and 2024.
Before taking the helm, Philp served as Spokane’s women’s soccer assistant coach from 2019–2021 and built a strong coaching resume in the club ranks. He spent nearly a decade (2012–2021) with Spokane Shadow in the RCL and Girls Academy, before moving to WE Surf in 2022, where he continues to coach in the Girls Academy and serve as a college advisor. He is also a Girls Academy Talent ID coach (2024–present) and the Eastern Washington EPD head coach. Philp holds a USSF B License.
A former player himself, Philp competed for Spokane Colleges in 2011 before playing semi-professionally in England with Moseley and Raynes Park Vale, as well as in the PDL with the Spokane Spiders from 2007–2011.
During his time at Spokane, Philp has coached several standout players, including Ryan Griep, Peyton Bastine, Delaney Lamotte, Alexa Deatherage (2024 NWAC Final Four MVP, now at Division I Nicholls State), and Reese Walker (now at Division II Western Washington).
Philp earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Roehampton University in England and his master’s degree in Education from Whitworth University.
