Lemley Named NWAC Athlete of the Week After Dominant Showing at Whitworth
After a dominant performance at the Whitworth Peace Meet, Spokane’s Daisy Lemley has been recognized as the NWAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Spokane sophomore thrower Daisy Lemley has been named NWAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week following an outstanding performance at the Whitworth Peace Meet.
Lemley put together one of the most impressive weekends in the conference this season, highlighted by a massive throw of 48.68 meters in the hammer. The mark currently leads the NWAC by a wide margin, sitting more than 17 feet ahead of the next closest competitor.
Her performance didn't just stand out within the conference, competing against a field that included NCAA Division I, II, and NAIA athletes, Lemley placed sixth overall in the event.
She continued to showcase her versatility in the discus, recording a mark of 41.75 meters to finish third overall. That throw ranks as the second-best mark in the NWAC this season.
Lemley's award marks a continued rise for the Sasquatch sophomore, who has quickly established herself as one of the top throwers in the conference.
Spokane will look to carry that momentum forward as the outdoor season continues.
