Spokane Earns Doubleheader Split Against Big Bend
Spokane baseball picked up a split in Saturday’s doubleheader against Big Bend, taking game one 7-4 before rolling to an 8-1 victory in the nightcap.

Game 1: Spokane 7, Big Bend 4
After falling behind early, Spokane used a big middle innings surge to take control and hold off Big Bend for the win.
The Vikings capitalized on a pair of early Spokane errors to grab a 2-0 lead through three innings, but the Sasquatch responded with runs in the third and fourth to even things up.
The turning point came in the sixth inning, when Spokane plated three runs to take a 5-2 lead. Aggressive baserunning and defensive miscues by Big Bend helped fuel the rally, highlighted by an RBI single from Thomas Malcolm.
Spokane added two more insurance runs in the eighth, extending the lead to 7-2 before Big Bend made a late push with a two-run home run in the ninth.
Malcolm led the offense with three hits, while Logan Spradling added a hit, RBI, and run scored.
On the mound, Nathan Fitzpatrick was strong, striking out nine over 5.2 innings while allowing just one earned run. Luke McGuire closed out the final 3.1 innings to secure the win.
Game 2: Spokane 8, Big Bend 1
Spokane carried that momentum into game two, putting together one of their most complete performances of the season.
The Sasquatch broke things open early, scoring three runs in the second inning behind a two-RBI single from Trent Woodhouse. They followed it up with a four-run third inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Max Workman and another RBI knock from Woodhouse to make it 7-1.
From there, Spokane stayed in control, adding a final run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Brady Wulf.
Woodhouse paced the offense with three RBIs on three hits, while Workman had a huge day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored.
On the mound, Sam Weaver delivered a strong start, allowing just one run over six innings. The bullpen trio of Brooks Pinski, Tiegan Ayers, and Owen Krasowski combined to shut the door, allowing no hits over the final three innings.
