Sasquatch Split Midweek Doubleheader with Wenatchee Valley
Spokane baseball split its midweek doubleheader with Wenatchee Valley, falling 10-3 in the opener before bouncing back with a 5-4 walk-off win in 10 innings in game two.
Game One: Wenatchee Valley 10, Spokane 3
The Knights broke open a tight game with a six-run seventh inning on the way to a 10-3 victory in the opener.
After three scoreless innings, Wenatchee Valley struck first in the fourth on an RBI single from Malikhi Emery-Hednerson to take a 1-0 lead.
Spokane answered in the sixth inning. Chase Edwards scored on a wild pitch to tie the game before Logan Spradling drove in Thomas Malcolm with a groundout to give the Sasquatch a 2-1 advantage.
Wenatchee Valley responded immediately in the seventh, erupting for six runs on five hits. Caden Werner delivered a two-run double while Eric Havili added a two-run single as the Knights surged ahead 7-2.
The Sasquatch picked up another run in the bottom of the seventh on a Chase Edwards sacrifice fly, but Wenatchee Valley added two more in the eighth and another in the ninth to secure the win.
Trent Woodhouse led Spokane offensively with two hits and a run scored. Malcolm, Max Workman, Castle Keaton, Logan Spradling and Ty Shepard each added a hit.
Luke McGuire provided solid relief work, allowing just one run over 5.1 innings with five strikeouts before the Knights' late offensive outburst.
Game Two: Spokane 5, Wenatchee Valley 4 (10 Innings)
Spokane answered back in dramatic fashion in game two, rallying late before walking off the Knights in the 10th inning for a 5-4 victory.
Wenatchee Valley opened the scoring in the second inning on a sacrifice fly from Carter Perlinski and carried a 1-0 lead into the sixth.
The Sasquatch tied the game when Thomas Malcolm singled home Max Workman in the bottom of the sixth.
The Knights responded with three runs in the seventh to retake control. RBI hits from Teyton Hardeman, Shion Habuto and Malikhi Emery-Hednerson pushed Wenatchee Valley ahead 4-1.
Spokane answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Trent Woodhouse delivered an RBI single, Max Workman followed with another RBI single, and Chase Edwards scored on a wild pitch to even the game at 4-4.
After both teams were held scoreless in the eighth and ninth innings, Spokane loaded the bases in the 10th. Workman lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, bringing home Brady Wulf for the walk-off win.
The Sasquatch totaled 11 hits in the victory. Woodhouse finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases, while Workman drove in two runs. Malcolm and Harper Dissmore each collected two hits, and Castle Keaton added two hits of his own.
On the mound, Dylan Greenough-Groom allowed just one hit and one run over five innings while striking out five. Braiden Boyd earned the win with four innings of relief work and four strikeouts.
