Spokane Baseball Earns East Region Champion Honors
Spokane baseball capped off a dominant regular season Saturday, earning the East Region Championship after a doubleheader sweep of Wenatchee Valley.

Game 1: Spokane 4, Wenatchee Valley 1
Spokane jumped out early and never looked back in the opener, scoring twice in the first inning before adding insurance runs in the second and third.
Chase Edwards opened the scoring by crossing home on Castle Keaton's RBI double in the first inning. Keaton later scored on an error to make it 2-0. In the second, Edwards delivered an RBI single to score Hunter Derr, and Logan Spradling doubled home Thomas Malcolm in the third for a 4-0 advantage.
Wenatchee Valley broke through in the sixth on Teyton Hardeman's RBI single, but Spokane's pitching staff shut the door the rest of the way.
Sam Weaver earned the win after allowing one run on four hits over seven innings while striking out eight. Luke McGuire tossed the final two scoreless innings and struck out two to secure the victory.
Keaton and Spradling each recorded doubles while Edwards, Keaton and Spradling drove in Spokane's runs.
Game 2: Spokane 8, Wenatchee Valley 2
Spokane completed the sweep with another strong offensive performance in game two, scoring four runs in the first two innings and taking advantage of six Wenatchee Valley errors.
The Sasquatch struck first in the opening inning when Max Workman's sacrifice fly brought home Trent Woodhouse before Logan Spradling added an RBI single later in the frame.
Spokane extended the lead to 4-0 in the second after Chase Edwards scored twice and Castle Keaton and Workman each collected RBIs.
The Wolves trimmed the deficit to 4-1 in the third and 6-2 in the sixth after Carter Christensen hit a solo home run, but Spokane answered with insurance runs in the eighth and ninth to put the game away.
Workman led Spokane offensively with two hits and three RBIs, while Edwards scored three runs and added an RBI. Woodhouse also scored three times, and Keaton drove in two runs.
Nathan Fitzpatrick started on the mound and struck out five over five innings. Owen Krasowski added four strikeouts in relief, and Braiden Boyd closed the game with two scoreless innings.
