Spokane Concludes Postseason Run With Third-Place Finish at NWAC Championships
Spokane Men’s Soccer wrapped up an impressive 2025 season on Friday, securing a third-place finish at the NWAC Championships after a hard-fought battle against undefeated Highline.
Spokane Men's Soccer capped a strong 2025 campaign with a third-place finish at the NWAC postseason tournament, falling 3–0 to undefeated Highline on Friday afternoon at Starfire Stadium.
The matchup pitted the Sasquatch against the top-ranked Thunderbirds, who entered the tournament 17-0-3 and boasting one of the conference's most dominant defensive units. Spokane generated early chances, finishing the match with a 10–4 shot advantage and seven shots on goal, but Highline converted the key moments while the Sasquatch were unable to break through.
Highline struck early in the 5th minute, capitalizing on a loose ball that led to a finish from Harrison Emert. Spokane settled in and created pressure throughout the half, with attempts from Nico Briet, Lucas Briet, Austin Armstrong, and Angel Reveles forcing the Highline back line to work.
The second half saw Spokane continue to control possession, but an own goal in the 48th minute doubled the Highline lead. Despite Spokane continuing to generate looks in the attacking third, the Thunderbirds added a third in the 68th minute off the foot of Idin Fakhri.
Goalkeeper Noah Jordan finished with one save for the Sasquatch, while Highline's Kyle Goodrow turned away all seven Spokane shots on frame.
The match also featured a physical battle throughout, with both teams combining for nine cards, including a late red card issued to Spokane.
Despite the semifinal loss, Spokane closes the postseason with a well-earned third-place finish, capping a season that included an East Region title, multiple all-conference selections, and one of the strongest defensive units in the NWAC.
The Sasquatch finish the year 9-3-1 overall and continue to establish themselves as one of the premier programs in the conference.
