Spokane Rallies Late to Earn Road Win at Yakima Valley
Spokane closed on a dominant fourth quarter Saturday afternoon, rallying past Yakima Valley 69–67 on the road.
The Sasquatch set the tone early with a 16–13 first-quarter edge but ran into trouble in the second, scoring just nine points as Yakima Valley surged ahead 36–25 at halftime.
Spokane flipped the script after the break. A 20-point third quarter cut into the deficit, and the Sasquatch poured in 24 points in the final frame to complete the comeback.
Journee Brooks led the charge with 18 points, knocking down two three-pointers and attacking offensively throughout the second half. Karis Santucci delivered one of her most efficient outings of the season, scoring 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting while adding key baskets in the closing minutes.
Shalene Ervin provided a spark off the bench with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting, and Camia Howard controlled the glass with 11 rebounds to go along with seven points.
Despite shooting just 19 percent from three-point range and 47 percent at the free-throw line, Spokane made timely plays down the stretch. The Sasquatch also grabbed 11 offensive rebounds and forced 21 Yakima Valley turnovers, helping offset a 43–36 rebounding disadvantage.
Spokane shot 40 percent from the field overall and found its rhythm when it mattered most, outscoring Yakima Valley 24–19 in the fourth quarter to secure the two-point victory.
