Spokane Women Shine with Multiple PRs at Linfield George Oja Invitational
Competing against a deep collegiate field in Independence, Oregon, Spokane’s women rose to the challenge, earning new personal bests and proving they belong among the region’s top developing programs.
The Spokane College women's cross country team delivered an impressive performance at the Linfield George Oja Invitational, showcasing the depth and potential of their young athletes. The event, held in Independece, Oregon, saw several personal records (PRs) shattered by the team, highlighting their dedication and hard work.
Leading the charge for Spokane Colleges was Nevaeh Jasso, a freshman who clocked in at 23:06.90, securing the 99th position. Jasso's performance set the tone for the team, as she achieved a personal best in the race. Close on her heels was fellow freshman Lana Fletcher, who finished 103rd with a time of 23:09.70, also marking a personal record.
Courage Hightree, another promising freshman, crossed the finish line in 121st place with a time of 23:22.00, continuing the trend of personal bests for the team. Melissa Walker, yet another freshman, followed closely, finishing 125th with a time of 23:28.10.
Jocelyn Serrano and Hannah Luzier, both freshmen, finished 137th and 142nd, respectively, with times of 23:45.00 and 23:47.20. Their performances further underscored the team's strong showing at the invitational.
Sophomore Madelyn Hutyler, one of the more experienced members of the team, finished 177th with a time of 24:18.20, achieving a personal record and demonstrating her growth and consistency. Freshman Shae Gooden rounded out the team's performance, finishing 182nd with a time of 24:20.80, also setting a personal best.
The Spokane women's cross country team, composed predominantly of freshmen, displayed remarkable potential and resilience at the Linfield George Oja Invitational.
