Sasquatch Women Race to Second at NWAC Championships
Spokane proved its depth once again on Monday, placing six runners in the top 20 to claim second at the NWAC Championships.
The Spokane women's cross country team closed out their 2025 season with an impressive runner-up finish at the NWAC Championships, held Monday afternoon at The Course in Spokane Valley.
Led by a deep and determined freshman group, the Sasquatch placed six runners in the top 20 to secure second overall against some of the region's strongest programs.
Melissa Walker paced Spokane with an 8th-place finish (23:51.5), followed closely by Courage Hightree (9th, 23:52.2) and Lana Fletcher (10th, 23:53.3), as the trio packed tightly together in the top 10.
Freshmen Hannah Luzier (12th, 24:01.9), Ashleigh Hightree (14th, 24:03.0, PR), and Nevaeh Jasso (15th, 24:14.9) continued the charge, solidifying Spokane's second-place team total. Sophomore Madelyn Hutyler (19th, 24:32.5), Jocelyn Serrano (26th, 25:33.2), and Shae Gooden (38th, 26:21.6) rounded out the lineup in a strong season finale for the squad.
The result caps a season defined by growth, consistency, and an undeniable team spirit, one that positions Spokane as a continued force in NWAC women's cross country.
