Spokane opened with 26 first-quarter points and never looked back, securing their sixth victory of the season behind a balanced, physical performance.
Spokane Women's Basketball picked up its third straight victory Saturday night, defeating Skagit Valley 67–54 at the Walt Price Fitness Center. The Sasquatch opened the game with one of their strongest halves of the season and rode that early momentum to improve to 6–2 overall.
Spokane set the tone immediately, putting up 26 first-quarter points and taking a 43–20 lead into halftime behind efficient scoring and dominant work on the glass. Skagit Valley battled back in the second half, but Spokane's early separation proved more than enough.
Camia Howard powered the offense with a season-high 22 points and 13 rebounds, shooting 8-of-17 from the field and 6-of-8 at the line. Journee Brooks added 14 points, including three made threes, while Ayeris Jones chipped in eight points and four assists. Alahondra Perez filled the stat sheet with seven points, five rebounds, six assists, and five steals.
It was a full team effort on the boards as Spokane outrebounded Skagit Valley 50–40 and grabbed 28 offensive rebounds, leading to key second-chance opportunities. Stephanie Chadduck added four points and five rebounds off the bench, and Karis Santucci contributed four points and seven boards.
Defensively, Spokane forced 26 Skagit turnovers and held Skagit Valley without a made three-pointer in the game. Kiki York led Skagit Valley with 14 points, but the Cardinal couldn't recover from Spokane's early surge.
With the win, the Sasquatch move to 6–2 on the season and continue building momentum as nonconference play rolls on.
