The Spokane women's soccer team locked up the NWAC East Region Championship on Wednesday afternoon after a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Columbia Basin.
Entering the match with the top spot in the East on the line, both teams showcased why they've been among the region's best all season. Spokane applied heavy pressure throughout the contest, recording 14 total shots and 7 on goal, while limiting Columbia Basin to just 7 shots in total.
Sophomore goalkeeper Danika Curtis anchored the Sasquatch defense, posting her sixth shutout of the season with six saves. On the other end, Mia Miconi led Spokane's attack with seven shots, including two on frame, while Carli Messmer, Cora Murray, and Asia Roberts each added key scoring chances.
Spokane's backline held firm against a late CBC push, securing the clean sheet and the result needed to clinch the East Region crown. The title caps a standout regular season for the Sasquatch, who finish 10-1-1 in conference play and 10-1-1 overall, marking one of the program's most consistent and balanced campaigns in recent years.
